Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is a laboratory technique applied to detection of proteins or antigens in biological tissue sections. The technique uses target specific monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies. The IHC technique can be applied to fresh and frozen tissue samples to detect existence and localization of protein or macromolecules of interest during stages of cell cycle, biological or disease state. It is widely used in the area of biochemistry, immunology, physiology, and anatomy. The most appreciating application of IHC stands with determination of cancer markers and specific tumor antigens in tissue cells.
